Lexx's Top 10 Tips to Saving Time
Hey y’all! So thankful for this opportunity to be featured on the-GRL!
I am a third-year medical student and Sorority Sister to the-GRL. I have a current interest in pursuing surgery - however, that may change as I am exploring every medical department during rotations. On my Instagram page, I often have a #TipTuesday where I post tips that I have learned along the way that I've deemed extremely helpful to my productivity!
So for today’s #TipTuesday... Between helping patients at work, writing notes, studying for my shelf exams, doing research, volunteering, AKA activities, maintaining my long distance relationship, working out (when possible), etc. — I often get the question, How do you have enough time for it all?!
here are my top 10 time-saving (& sometimes money-saving) tips that I use to squeeze more into my day:
1. Order groceries online
AND they put them in the car for you when they get there! Save time perusing aisles, looking for items, buying things you don’t need, waiting in line, etc.
2. Pre-set/automate everything you can!
Coffee maker, bills to pay, reminders on your phone- so you don’t even have to think about it, it’s just done/ready!
3. Meal/smoothie/snack prep!
Spend the few hours on the weekend so you can spend 5 minutes during the week!
4. Automatic CAR start (if you can)!
During the winter I start my car from inside the last 5 minutes I’m getting ready so I can just get in the car and go!
5. Have a study plan
DON'T LOLLYGAG! Use your brain power to study- not figuring out where to start. I will do a later post on this!
6. Be efficient & take breaks!
Don’t spend 5 hours on something that should take 3 hours. That’s 2 hours of relaxing you could have enjoyed!
7. Wear your hair wrap PLUS sleep with a satin pillowcase!!!
For my natural girls- if you pineapple and wrap every night that’s way less prep! I get my hair to last a whole week w/ minimal retouch (tutorial coming soon)!
8. Clothes planner
Plan your work (& gym!) outfits for the week so you don’t spend an hour figuring it out daily. You have no excuse not to go to the gym when your gym bag is packed and in the car!
9. Morning preparation every night
Every night my clothes are laid out, my gym bag is by my purse, my lunch box is in the fridge, my keys are out by my bag, coffee is pre-made with the cup sitting by it, etc. I do NOT have to think in the morning - grab it and go! Plus I don’t forget anything because it is all packed/set out exactly where I need it.
10. Review your schedule/checklist every morning and every night
That way nothing catches you off guard and you are ready and prepared for each day!
This requires discipline and I'm still working on all of these, but when I do them (more often than not I do!) my days are much smoother and I have way more time to do the things I love!!! Like watch Netflix, journal, facetime my boyfriend, work on projects, and catch up with family, friends, & AKA sisters <3 These are the things that keep me sane and help me excel with this busy life!
